The water was BROWN from a land or mud slide farther up the river. The river was running high and fast, a deep reddish brown color and blue reflecting from the cloudless sky.

Hills of Eastern Oregon - sold

Sometimes you just want to paint with really thick paint and have some fun!

The Eastern Oregon desert is fascinating to me. It is a high desert with huge rolling hills and grand cloudscapes.

The Shapes of Trees

12" x 48" ::  cradled wood panel 2" deep

The shapes of trees fascinate me. I have had this idea in mind for a painting, since this summer, to paint on wood, and have the wood show through as part of the light values in the painting. It's hard to see in a photo, but the light color of the actual wood is showing through in parts of the painting. The wood has two coats of shellac as a clear gesso.

Down By The River - sold

The Columbia River Gorge. We had our Tuesday Plein Air morning... about 12 people showed up to paint on the property of The Friends of the Gorge in Mosier. Tall Ponderosa Pine Trees and native tall grass, and then cliffs down to the river. We met at 10 Speed Coffee East at about 8am, before we started painting this morning for a little breakfast and of course, coffee.
