Luscious Apple - sold

It's been a while since I have painted an apple. Just wanted to paint this beautiful apple that came from one of our local farms.
In painting this one, I really enjoyed leaving a little background showing through, and doing my best to make this apple glow.

Sunny Morning at Ground Coffee Shop

Ground Coffee Shop :: 6"x6" :: oil on archival panel :: unframed
Plein Air Painting in downtown Hood River, Oregon. This place is an institution in Hood River. It's been a coffee shop of some sort forever I think. A few remodels and owners later, it's now known as "Ground Coffee Shop". It's a complex scene, so I did a sketch with pen and ink before I did the painting. The car moved just when I got out the paints!

Alive with Pink! - not available

Painting in a Gardening Store in Hood River, OR. Beautiful Rhododendrons. I'm not sure, but I think this rhododendron is called Marie Forte. It was a spectacular day to paint at Good News Gardening this morning, with the other plein air painters. Not too much wind this morning, and beautifully sunny.

The green glass is from a cool little retro/vintage store in the Pearl District in Portland, OR called Porch Light. I have found several great little things to paint in this store. I really love painting translucent objects too.

Red and Green - sold

My favorite new color combination! Red and green… I'm actually wearing red and green often too, I love it so much for Spring. All shades of reds and all shades of greens. Pink counts as a red too.
This painting is already sold, it is a commission (yay! love commissions!), I had to post it because of the reds and greens.

Water

6"x6" :: oil on panel :: unframed
Here I am, breaking the rules AGAIN...don't put your subject right in the middle of your canvas... I don't know, I think it works. I like the glass in the middle. Perhaps it works because one of the centers of interest is the glow in the shadow off to the side.

Pink Bowl and Green Fiesta Cup

6"x6" :: oil on panel :: unframed
Ok, I'm having fun with these new colors of objects and the challenge to paint them. I love this little (what color is it, pink? salmon? persimmon?) bowl, and all the color combinations that can be made with it. It is a sort of composition challenge before the painting is even started. I dropped the pinterest button, because people were telling me that they clicked on it and it didn't work. I hope blogger puts a pinterest button into the little gadget that has the other social media buttons in the group below, to make it easy for everyone. hello... google, are you listening? : D

Oak Trees On The Edge of the Desert

Oaks in the Desert :: 12in x 48in :: kiln dried birch cradled panel
I just love the variety of climate zones we have here in Oregon. To the East we have desert with Oaks and grasses, and to the West, we have waterfalls and a variety of Fir and Evergreen Trees. This painting is of the desert landscape with oaks in the foreground, one of my favorite subjects to paint. I painted this on kiln dried birch panel, with two coats of shellac. It's fun to look at in person, because I left some of the birch showing through the painting. You can view it if you are in the Hood River area, at the Columbia Gorge Family Medical Center.

10"x10" A Little Port and a LIttle Wine :: Oil on Panel :: framed

8"x8" Three Wines : Oil on Panel :: framed

8"x8" Empty Bottle :: Oil on Panel :: framed

I am very excited to have these 3 paintings in the Northwest By Northwest Gallery, during the Savor Cannon Beach Wine and Culinary Festival in Cannon Beach, Oregon this weekend!
