Cleopatra Camelia

​Tuesday Plein Air finally! I could feel the heat of the sun! It's good to finally get outside and do some painting. Good News Gardening has lovely sculptures and plant arrangements, that are so inspiring to paint. I painted this sculpture last week and wasn't really happy with the values and colors in the shadows. This week I tried it again, and I feel like I'm "getting it"...

Quick Draw in Hood River - Sketch

The Quick Draw (it's really about painting, don't ask me why they call it Quick Draw) is tomorrow, and the location is downtown Hood River. I would love to paint some people at the coffee shop. So I was sketching them today at the coffee shop to see how it might go, and this is what I came up with in my sketchbook.

Rasmussen's Oak

I painted this one in September, at Rasmussen Farm, after the Plein Air Show in September, with Mike Kowalski. Mike and I went out to the farm, and both painted the same view of the oak tree, it was still hot here in September. Mike is a watercolorist who also paints beautiful oil paintings.
I have painted this oak tree many times, and it's always interesting to paint again. It is a little larger than my daily paintings.

Three apples, three colors (red yellow and blue), musical tones, there is supposedly some sort of psychophysical theory about harmonies of threes. Probably someone out there knows more about this than me.

Tree at Maryhill Museum - SOLD

The tree overlooks the Columbia River. This painting is of the view from The Maryhill Museum in Goldendale, Washington. A group of 30 of us painted there during the Plein Air 2008 event that is on display at the Columbia Center for the Arts this month. This plein air event continues to provide inspiration for me in the daily paintings.
