About Me

My photo
Cathleen Rehfeld Meyers
My visual diary. I love doing small daily oil paintings. They have an immediate freshness about them. Whatever you are thinking about that day goes into them, almost like a visual diary. About oil paint - I love the creamy color and intense luscious look of oil paint, making brushstrokes that bring out that quality in the paint. I try new ideas, colors, and subject matter. It is very freeing to be able to paint something and get it out very quickly.

I have studied with several well known instructors including David Leffel, Tony Ryder, Kenn Backhaus, Randal Sexton among others. I continue to be influenced by the five years I spent living and working in Mexico and South America. I visited sites around Mexico City such as the Museo de Bellas Artes to see the work of famous muralists, such as José Clemente Orozco, Diego Rivera, and David Alfaro Siqueiros and study their work. I am now influenced by my current home in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.

You can find my larger paintings at The Columbia Center for the Arts in Hood River, OR, The Dalles Art Center and online. If you would like to see more work, just ask me!
