#889 The Dalles Mt Ranch

6"x6 | oil on linen panel

I guess I forgot to post this one! It is a plein air painting from this summer, when we had the PNW Plein Air event, it was one of my paintings from the show at Maryhill Museum of Art 2016. This was painted at the Ranch, overlooking a ravine created by a creek that runs through the ranch, down to the Columbia River. Oaks and other vegetation grow around the wet ravine, in the Washington high desert.

Love this. I can hear the cicadas and smell the crushed wild thyme! Reminds me of so many places I've visited around the world.

Good work! I believe that photography is a kind of art that does not require only the hard work to learn but lots of creativity as well. Last week I had purchased, original art prints from an online shop (Find the Essence of Joy). That design was superb. I am waiting for your next blog.

Cathleen, your plein air paintings are so wonderful... I haven't seen to many of these, mostly your still lifes. Absolutely LOVE the plein air..... I have been painting plein air for about 2 years, and know how challenging it is.
