Nasturtiums "Empress of India"

6"x6" | oil on archival panel
I grew these nasturtiums because I wanted to paint them! I love the way they look! They are a beautiful flower, I think you can eat them too. The "Empress of India" variety, has dark green leaves and deep red orange flowers.

Love how the leaf shape echoes the overall shape of the flower. The colors are wonderful and blue glass jar/vase painted perfectly!

Beautifully painted Cathleen! Nasturtiums are delicious. Rinse the flowers and use a piping bag and tip to fill the centers with a dot of flavored cream cheese. Makes a beautiful appetizer, with a slightly peppery flavor :)
