Stand of Oaks and Yellow Starthistle - sold

Plein Air painting in Washington today, just across the river from Mosier, Oregon. It's very dry with dark basalt cliffs along the gorge. There are stands of oaks begging to be painted, with the yellow starthisle everywhere. And snakes too! I did wear my cowboy boots!

6"x6" framed :: oil on panel

Beautiful with your loose brush strokes. I especially like your colors in the foreground. Glad you wore your boots ..... snakes are no fun to run into!

The contrasts are striking. I'm drawn into the trunks. Beautiful painting. How do you do it so loosely and small?
